Nature, Movement & Stillness – Reflections on Our Yoga & Hiking Retreat in Mallorca
Imagine a bright autumn morning in Mallorca, the air filled with the scent of pine and sea salt. The stunning Tramuntana Mountains and a small group of like-minded souls gathering to begin their day with an energizing yoga session. This was the setting for our last year’s Yoga & Hiking Retreat in Mallorca, led by myself, Jana—certified yoga and Ayurveda instructor—and my wonderful colleague Dita, an experienced mountain and tour guide.
Together, we created a retreat experience blending movement and stillness, exploration and rest. All in a harmonious way, all grounded in nature’s healing rhythms.
The Perfect Balance: Yoga & Hiking
There’s a reason why yoga and hiking make such a powerful combination. While hiking immerses you in the natural world—activating the senses and reconnecting you with the earth—yoga helps to anchor that experience internally. Our guests described this duo as both energizing and grounding.
Modern research supports what many ancient traditions have long known: spending time in nature has a deeply restorative effect on the nervous system. It reduces cortisol (our primary stress hormone), enhances mood, lowers blood pressure and improves sleep. When paired with yoga, which regulates breath, balances the nervous system and grounds the body, the effect is profoundly healing. The body finds balance. The mind settles.
This is exactly what our Mallorca yoga retreat was designed for. To gently guide our guests from stress to serenity, through nature, daily yoga and meaningful connection.
Daily Yoga to Support Mind & Body
Each morning began with a dynamic yoga flow designed to activate the body and sharpen focus, preparing us for the day’s hike. Evenings featured restorative practices—deep stretching, conscious breathing and guided relaxation. All to soothe sore muscles and calm the mind after hours of exploring.
I always tailor each practice to the group, so complete beginners and experienced yogis alike feel supported and at ease. My goal is to help everyone listen to their bodies, move with intention and experience yoga not as performance but as presence.
A Special Highlight: Face Yoga & Frankincense Self-Care Ritual
One evening, we hosted a Face Yoga & Face Massage Workshop using authentic Omani frankincense oil. It was a deeply rejuvenating and unique experience for our guests.
Frankincense, known as nature’s collagen, has been revered for centuries for its anti-aging, scar-healing and calming properties. Guests learned about the ancient history and skincare benefits of this sacred resin and how to incorporate it into their daily self-care rituals.
During the workshop, I guided everyone through gentle face yoga techniques to release tension, support lymphatic drainage and promote a natural glow. It was a beautiful way to practice self-love and conscious skincare. All guests took home their own bottle of this precious oil as a gift.
Hike & Connect: Nature, Culture & History of Mallorca
Our scenic hikes took us through the Tramuntana Mountains, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We explored fragrant citrus groves, ancient olive terraces and charming villages like Fornalutx — considered the most beautiful village in Spain.
The daily easy to intermediate hikes offered the perfect balance of activity and immersion. Most trails began right from our beachfront hotel in Port de Sóller, with one short transfer for variety. We walked through orange and olive groves, along ancient stone paths and into the heart of Mallorca’s mountain culture.
One highlight was the historic wooden tram ride from Sóller, a scenic journey through the island’s citrus-scented countryside. We also explored the iconic village of Deià, rich in history, art and traditional Mallorcan charm.
Even when the weather surprised us—with a full day of rain on our first hike—our expert guide adapted our route so everyone stayed safe and still got to enjoy the rich beauty of the terrain.
These hikes weren’t just about movement—they were a chance to connect deeply with nature, discover local traditions and learn how people once lived in harmony with this stunning landscape.
Our Hotel by the Sea: Boutique Comfort & Freedom
Rather than a remote villa, we chose a boutique spa hotel in Port de Sóller for its balance of comfort, independence and beachfront access. The hotel featured heated indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, Turkish bath and sauna—offering rest and renewal after a day on the trails.
Guests loved having free time to explore the seaside promenade, pop into local shops or sip espresso while soaking up the slow rhythms of this charming coastal town.
Nourishment, the Local Way
Each morning began with a generous hotel breakfast buffet, featuring fresh local produce, homemade pastries, fruit, juice and healthy options to energize the day. Midday, we paused during our hikes to enjoy picnics at local mountain huts (refugios)—simple, nourishing snacks made with love by locals.
Evenings were left open so that guests could dine freely, discovering a different restaurant each night. Many chose to eat together, sharing stories over tapas, wine and laughter—creating bonds that carried well beyond the retreat.
For corporate teams, these relaxed meals always offer valuable time for team connection and bonding.

This retreat wasn’t just about yoga or hiking; it was a holistic experience that nurtured the body, mind and soul. From face yoga workshops with Frankincense oil to moments of pure serenity in the forests of Mallorca, every detail was curated to leave guests feeling refreshed and grounded.
Jenny, who joined us from Germany, captured it perfectly in her review:
“I thoroughly enjoyed your yoga and hiking retreat and am very grateful I was able to experience it with you and the group.
It truly was an amazing time.
I really loved your flexibility with the program and with the people.
Although you had to do a lot of organizing and planning every day, especially due to the weather, you never appeared stressed. I always felt that I was in very good hands and that I didn’t have to worry about anything. I could just experience and enjoy.
I also really appreciated your authenticity and the way you interacted with everyone. The same applies to Dita!”
